Grey Matter – Part 1

Monotony is one word to describe it.
My life is as bland as an old man’s diet.
I see all that you can, but starker;
I can only distinguish between lighter and darker.

A sea of people, a sea of happiness, a sea of laughter;
not one that sees my sea of sorrow, not before nor after.
Adrift, pretending to be hopeful and inquisitive,
I’m nothing but a blank roll of negatives.

As I walk a familiar route, one used by many,
my eyes light up at a stunning anomaly.
“Is that…?”, I’m lost in wonder.
I just felt a rush of blood. I just saw colour.

My sadness was now a part of history.
Dazed and confused I needed to solve this mystery
A life of grayscale now turned vibrant,
A life of grayscale now with colour and excitement.
